UIL STATE SOCCER 2026 - Finals Preview

THIS IS WHAT IT ALL COMES DOWN TO.

Districts. Bi-districts. Regionals. Semifinals. All of it led to this. The best programs in the entire state of Texas have clawed, fought, and competed their way to the final stage - and now there are no more second chances. No more next rounds. You win, you're a state champion. You lose, your season is over. Three days. Six classifications. Sixteen teams. One trophy each. Let's get into it.

4A-D1 GIRLS - Celina vs. Salado

Look at those records and tell me this isn't going to be special. Celina comes in at 25-1-1. Salado comes in at 27-1. Between these two programs, they have lost a combined THREE games all season. Three. This is elite vs. elite in its purest form. Celina has been one of the most dominant forces in North Texas girls soccer all year - they don't give up goals, they don't give up momentum, and they don't give up leads. But Salado's 27-1 record is not a fluke. They have been absolutely clinical from the first day of the season to right now. When two teams this good meet on the biggest stage, you better believe every possession matters. This one could be decided by a single moment of brilliance - and both squads have the players capable of creating it.

4A-D1 BOYS - Lake Dallas vs. Waco La Vega

Here is the best underdog story of the entire state tournament. Lake Dallas walks into this final with an 11-6-6 record - a record that nobody looked at and said "state champion." But that's what makes Texas high school soccer so special. Lake Dallas didn't have the prettiest regular season, but when the playoffs started, something clicked. They have beaten every team put in front of them to get here, and now they stand one win away from a state title. Waco La Vega, on the other hand, has been a machine all year at 26-2. They are experienced, they are deep, and they are hungry. But Lake Dallas didn't come this far just to show up. If there is a Cinderella story being written this week in Georgetown, this is the game it comes from.

4A-D2 GIRLS - Sunnyvale vs. Wimberley

Nearly identical records. Nearly identical paths to the final. Sunnyvale and Wimberley both come in at 24 wins, both with minimal losses, and both with everything to play for. This is a coin flip on paper - which means on the pitch, it could go absolutely anywhere. Sunnyvale has been one of the most balanced teams in 4A-D2 all season, dangerous in attack and locked in defensively. Wimberley brings that Hill Country toughness and a squad that simply does not quit. When two evenly matched teams meet in a state final, you get the kind of game that people remember for years. 4:00 PM Thursday - don't miss it.

4A-D2 BOYS - Bridgeport vs. Royal

Royal. 28-1-1. Let that sink in. That is one of the most dominant records in the entire state tournament across all classifications and both genders. Royal has been an absolute force this season - they have barely been tested, they have barely been troubled, and they show up to Georgetown as the team everyone has circled on the bracket. But Bridgeport at 21-3 is not walking in here intimidated. They have been battle-tested all season, and they know that records go out the window when the whistle blows in a state final. Bridgeport is going to make Royal earn every single minute of this game. The 6:30 PM night game under the lights to close out Thursday - this is the one.

5A-D1 GIRLS - Prosper Walnut Grove vs. Comal Smithson Valley

UNDEFEATED. Comal Smithson Valley walks into this state final at a perfect 28-0. Not one loss. Not one blemish on the record. All season long, teams have tried to figure out how to beat them, and all season long, they have come up empty. But now they face their greatest test yet - Prosper Walnut Grove, a program that has been one of the most consistent teams in 5A all year at 23-2-1. Walnut Grove isn't scared of the unbeaten record. They are the kind of team that thrives in big moments. Can Smithson Valley complete the perfect season and cap it with a state title? Or does Walnut Grove write the ending nobody saw coming? This is the game of Friday.

5A-D1 BOYS - Prosper Walnut Grove vs. College Station

30-0. THIRTY AND ZERO. Prosper Walnut Grove's boys program is running one of the most historic seasons in recent Texas high school soccer memory. A perfect 30-0 record heading into a state final is something that doesn't happen often - and they are not done yet. College Station gets here with a 16-7-4 record that looks very ordinary on paper. But College Station has been anything but ordinary in this postseason. They have knocked out teams nobody thought they could beat, and now they stand across from a program that hasn't lost a single game all year. Walnut Grove is the favorite - but College Station? They have nothing to lose and everything to gain. This one could surprise everybody.

5A-D2 GIRLS - Grapevine vs. Montgomery Lake Creek

Both of these teams have been through the fire this season. Grapevine's 18-5-6 record tells you they have faced adversity, pushed through it, and come out better on the other side. Montgomery Lake Creek at 17-6-2 is cut from the same cloth - tested, resilient, and ready. Neither of these squads had a smooth ride to get here, and that battle-hardened experience is exactly why this final is going to be physical, competitive, and decided in the moments when guts matter more than anything else. This is not a game for the faint of heart - and that's exactly why it's going to be must-watch soccer.

5A-D2 BOYS - Frisco Wakeland vs. Comal Pieper

Frisco Wakeland. 26-1-1. One of the premier programs in 5A boys soccer, and they are back on the biggest stage proving exactly why they belong here. Wakeland's lone loss all season has fueled them through this entire postseason run - they have been on a mission since that day, and it shows. Comal Pieper comes in at 20-2-5, a record that proves they can battle through draws and find ways to win when it's ugly. Pieper is not a program that panics. They are disciplined, they are organized, and they are dangerous. Friday night under the lights to close out Day 2 - Wakeland vs. Pieper is going to be a war.

6A-D1 GIRLS - Keller vs. Round Rock

6A girls soccer. The biggest classification in the state. And it doesn't get better than Keller vs. Round Rock to decide the D1 crown. Keller at 22-4-1 is a program with size, depth, and firepower. Round Rock comes in at 21-2-4 - that record screams consistency and composure. Only two losses all season for the Dragons, which tells you everything about how locked in this team has been. Keller is going to push the pace and look to impose their physicality early. Round Rock is going to want to control possession and make Keller chase them. Something has to give, and when it does, this game is going to open up in spectacular fashion.

6A-D1 BOYS - Klein Cain vs. Humble Atascocita

Houston's finest are taking over the 6A-D1 boys final. Klein Cain and Humble Atascocita - two Houston-area powerhouses, both battle-tested, both hungry, and both knowing exactly what the other brings. Klein Cain at 18-3-5 plays with an intensity that is hard to match. Their five draws tell you they know how to grind through difficult moments and not crack. Atascocita at 21-5-3 has been one of the most complete teams in 6A all year - they can win ugly, they can win pretty, and they can win in big moments. This is a heavyweight fight at 1:30 PM Saturday, and the Houston area is going to be watching every single second of it.

6A-D2 GIRLS - Forney vs. Humble Kingwood

Two of the most dominant records in the entire state tournament, on the same field, at the same time, for all the marbles. Forney at 28-1 has been an absolute bulldozer in 6A-D2 all season - one loss, twenty-eight wins, and a chip on their shoulder the size of Texas. Humble Kingwood comes in at 26-0-2 - unbeaten. Not one loss all season. These two programs have steamrolled everyone in their path, and now they meet each other with no one left to beat. This is the final everyone wanted to see. Forney vs. Kingwood for the 6A-D2 girls state championship - the 4:00 PM window on Saturday is going to be electric.

6A-D2 BOYS - Conroe Woodlands College Park vs. Humble Summer Creek

The perfect way to close out an entire weekend of state championship soccer. Woodlands College Park at 18-3-3 is a program that has found its groove at exactly the right time - they are playing their best soccer right now, in April, when it matters most. Humble Summer Creek at 21-2-6 has been one of the most dangerous teams in the Houston area all season. Six draws tell you this is a team that competes until the final whistle no matter what the scoreline says. Saturday night. 6:30 PM. Georgetown. Everything on the line. This is how you end a state tournament.

THREE DAYS. SIXTEEN TEAMS. ONE CHAMPIONSHIP EACH.

April 9. April 10. April 11.

The best high school soccer players in the state of Texas are going to leave everything they have on that pitch. Records don't win trophies - heart does. And every single team left standing has proved they have more heart than anyone gave them credit for. The question now is simple: who wants it more?

The road ends here. Who's taking home the gold?
