The Road to the Alamodome

After months of packed gyms, buzzer beaters, and playoff chaos, Texas high school basketball has reached its most intense stage: the UIL state semifinals.

Across 4A, 5A, and 6A, only four teams remain in each division. One win now separates these programs from playing for a Texas state championship in San Antonio.

This is where seasons are remembered forever.

6A Division I

North Crowley vs Duncanville

Humble Atascocita vs San Antonio Brennan

If you want pure Texas basketball powerhouses, this bracket has it.

North Crowley and Duncanville feels like a heavyweight fight. Both programs have dominated their regions and bring elite athletes, physical defense, and playoff experience. Every possession in this one will feel like a state title moment.

On the other side, Atascocita faces Brennan. The Houston-area powerhouse has rolled through the playoffs with its depth and defensive pressure, while Brennan has turned heads with a fast-paced offense capable of exploding for big runs.

Two massive matchups. One trip to San Antonio.

6A Division II

Little Elm vs Cypress Springs

Cypress Falls vs Austin Westlake

This bracket is full of momentum teams.

Little Elm arrives in the semifinals riding one of the best playoff runs in program history. Cypress Springs brings physical defense and a relentless style that has overwhelmed opponents.

Meanwhile, Cypress Falls meets Austin Westlake in what might be the most balanced semifinal of the 6A field. Westlake advanced after a dramatic regional final win led by star guard Bo Ogden.

Expect a tight game where late-game execution decides everything.

5A Division I

Birdville vs Frisco Heritage

Beaumont West Brook vs Leander Glenn

North Texas gets a huge spotlight here.

Birdville and Frisco Heritage both bring explosive offenses and confident guard play. Heritage’s run has energized the Frisco basketball scene, while Birdville’s experience makes them dangerous in big moments.

The other semifinal features defending champions Beaumont West Brook against Leander Glenn. West Brook survived a dramatic regional final, winning by one point after a final defensive stand.

They know how to win in March — and that experience matters.

5A Division II

Mansfield Summit vs Lovejoy

Beaumont United vs San Antonio Veterans Memorial

This division may be the most unpredictable.

Mansfield Summit and Lovejoy meet in a North Texas clash built on strong guard play and disciplined defense.

The other semifinal pits Beaumont United against San Antonio Veterans Memorial. Veterans Memorial reached this round after a huge fourth-quarter surge in their regional final.

Expect physical defense, tempo battles, and playoff intensity.

4A Division I

Dallas Kimball vs West Plains

Almeta Crawford vs Brazosport

Dallas Kimball continues its tradition as one of Texas basketball’s most respected programs.

Standing in their way is West Plains, a team making history with its first-ever trip to the state semifinals after a dominant regional run.

On the other side, Almeta Crawford and Brazosport clash in a matchup between two teams that survived brutal regional brackets to get here.

This division could produce one of the best semifinal games of the week.

4A Division II

Dallas Carter vs Kennedale

Lubbock-Cooper Liberty vs Waco La Vega

4A Division II might be the most balanced final four in the state.

Dallas Carter enters with elite athleticism and a defense capable of taking over games, while Kennedale has quietly put together one of the most impressive playoff runs in the bracket.

The other semifinal features Lubbock-Cooper Liberty against Waco La Vega — two programs with strong playoff history and physical defensive styles.

In this division, every team realistically has a shot at the title.

One Win From History

The stakes couldn’t be higher.

Win, and your season continues in front of thousands at the UIL State Championships in the Alamodome.

Lose, and the dream ends one step short.

Across Texas this week, gyms will be loud, nerves will be high, and legends might be made.

Because this is March in Texas high school basketball.
