McKinney and Princeton Clash in High-Stakes Soccer Doubleheader

It was a busy Tuesday on the pitch for McKinney and Princeton as both the boys' and girls' programs faced off in critical matchups. While one game saw a dominant offensive display, the other turned into a defensive stalemate, leaving both schools with plenty to reflect on as they head into the final stretch of the season.
Boys: Princeton Panthers Surge Past McKinney
The McKinney boys' soccer team struggled to find their rhythm on Tuesday, falling 8-0 to a relentless Princeton Panthers squad. The loss marks the seventh straight defeat for the Lions, who have faced a challenging schedule over the last few weeks.
Princeton’s victory was a significant turnaround for the program, snapping a four-match home drought. The Panthers dominated from the opening whistle, mirroring their success from earlier this year when they defeated McKinney 4-1 in January. With this win, Princeton improves to 6-10-2, while McKinney’s record shifts to 3-14-2.
The road ahead doesn't get any easier for either team. McKinney (ranked 431st in the state) will look to bounce back against a powerhouse in Plano West (ranked 26th) this Friday. Princeton will also face a steep climb as they take on Allen, currently ranked 8th in Texas.
Girls: Defensive Battle Ends in Scoreless Draw
On the girls' side, the narrative was one of defensive resilience. McKinney entered the match looking to end a difficult seven-game losing streak, and while they didn't secure a win, they successfully stopped the bleeding with a 0-0 draw against Princeton.
The stalemate was a hard-fought result for both sides. For McKinney, the draw moved their season record to 3-12-2. Princeton, searching for momentum of their own, now sits at 1-14-1. Despite the lack of goals, the game provided a much-needed defensive confidence boost for a McKinney backline that had been under heavy pressure during their recent skid.
What’s Next?
Both the McKinney and Princeton programs will be back in inter-district action this Friday, February 27th.
McKinney will host Plano West at 7:30 p.m.
Princeton travels to take on local rival Allen at 7:30 p.m.
As the playoff picture begins to solidify, both schools will be desperate to turn these recent results into late-season momentum.
