Top 10 HS Football Teams of the Decade: Collin County Edition
For the last ten years, Collin County has been the undisputed epicenter of Texas High School football. From the massive 6A stadiums of Allen and Prosper to the historic "small town" powerhouse of Celina, the county has produced more D1 talent and highlight-reel moments than almost anywhere in the country.
When we look at the last decade—and specifically include the Frisco ISD programs that bridge the county line—these ten teams stand above the rest.
1. Allen Eagles, 2017
The gold standard for the decade. In a classification (6A Division I) where every week is a battle against future NFL players, the 2017 Eagles went untethered and untouched.
Record: 16-0 (State Champions)
The Run: They capped off a perfect season with a 35-33 thriller against Lake Travis at AT&T Stadium.
Best Players: QB Grant Tisdale (2,100+ pass yards, 31 TDs) and WR Theo Wease (Oklahoma/Missouri; 1,100+ yards, 14 TDs).
2. Celina Bobcats, 2024
The Bobcats reclaimed their throne with a season that defined "perfection." They outscored their opponents by an average of 34 points and reminded the state that the road to the title still runs through Celina.
Record: 16-0 (State Champions)
The Run: They dismantled Kilgore 55-21 in the State Final.
Best Players: QB Bowe Bentley (Oklahoma commit; 3,328 passing yards, 47 TDs in the season) and WR Ethan Rucker.
3. Frisco Lone Star Rangers, 2025
The greatest season in Frisco ISD history. They didn't win the ring, but they accomplished the "impossible" by beating the two most storied programs in Texas in back-to-back weeks.
Record: 15-1 (State Finalist)
The Run: Defeated Highland Park (58-38) and Aledo (56-52) in the playoffs.
Best Players: QB Trey Wright (5,500+ total yards, 59 total TDs) and ATH Davian Groce.
4. Anna Coyotes, 2023
The Coyotes went from a struggling program to a physical juggernaut. Their 2023 run was a masterclass in defensive dominance and explosive playmaking.
Record: 15-1 (State Champions)
The Run: They secured a 26-0 shutout in the State Final against Tyler Chapel Hill—a rarity in modern high-scoring ball.
Best Players: QB Ziondre Williams (2,860 yards, 39 TDs) and RB Edward Chumley (State Title MVP).
5. Frisco Lone Star Rangers, 2019
The "Year of the Record." This team featured the most explosive offensive duo in North Texas history.
Record: 14-1 (State Semifinalist)
Best Players: WR Marvin Mims Jr. (Denver Broncos; set the national record with 2,629 receiving yards) and QB Garret Rangel (4,800+ yards, 50 TDs).
6. Frisco Emerson Mavericks, 2023
In only their second year of varsity play, Emerson became a state powerhouse. Their rise is officially the fastest "build" in Texas history.
Record: 12-3 (State Semifinalist)
Best Players: QB Michael Hawkins (Oklahoma; 3,039 passing yards, 41 TDs; 1,172 rushing yards).
7. Prosper Eagles, 2022
The year Prosper officially graduated to "6A Elite." They proved they could handle the physical toll of a deep run in the largest classification.
Record: 13-2 (State Semifinalist)
Best Players: QB Harrison Rosar (3,394 yards, 43 TDs) and OL Trevor Goosby (Texas).
8. Lovejoy Leopards, 2021
The Leopards played a brand of "Air Raid" football that was nearly impossible to defend. Their only losses came against programs that went on to win state titles.
Record: 12-2 (Regional Finalist)
Best Players: WR Jaxson Lavender (SMU; 1,200+ yards) and QB Ralph Rucker.
9. Frisco Wakeland Wolverines, 2021
While they didn't win state, this team earns a spot for the "Upset of the Decade," knocking off Highland Park in the playoffs and reaching the deep rounds.
Record: 10-3 (Regional Finalist)
Best Players: QB Brennan Myer (3,200+ yards, 34 TDs) and RB Jared White.
10. Frisco Lone Star, 2015
