A New Era for North Texas High School Football: UIL Realignment 26/28
The University Interscholastic League (UIL) has officially released its tentative district alignments for the 2026-2028 seasons, and the landscape of North Texas high school football has shifted dramatically.
The headline for the Dallas-Fort Worth area is a seismic shakeup in the traditional power structure: Aledo is moving up to Class 6A, while traditional 6A powerhouses DeSoto and Cedar Hill are dropping down to Class 5A Division I.
Below is a breakdown of the new North Texas districts for Conference 6A through 4A.
Conference 6A: The New Landscape
The "District of Doom" (formerly 11-6A) has been dismantled. With DeSoto and Cedar Hill dropping to 5A, Duncanville remains in 6A but finds itself in a new District 11 alignment that includes Mansfield schools and Waxahachie. Meanwhile, Aledo leaves 5A dominance behind to join a Fort Worth/Arlington-heavy District 3-6A.
